This feature comes from Andy Blackmore's June 2014 Newsletter, which features a collaboration between Andy Blackmore Design and AERO™ Advanced Paint Technology. It has been a enjoyable crazy, creative 2014 so far as 'Andy Blackmore Design' completed its transition to a full time creative design company for the Motorsport industry.
I have been very fortunate to have worked with some fantastic new teams around the world at all levels from Le Mans to Formula Drift!
In addition to the previously announced liveries (above and previous newsletter) I've been creating many new designs, most are now out in the public domain.
In Endurance racing, I had the opportunity to create an all new look for Proton Competition and their awesome Porsche 991 RSR in the World Endurance Championship and this weekend's Le Mans.
I created my fourth 2014 Tudor United Sportscar Championship livery with Bayshore Racing commissioning me to produce a design for the Boggy Creek Camp Charity which Bayshore supports. Design needed to stand out and appeal to kids without the cliched children's drawing. The livery will now remain for the rest of the season.
Elsewhere in GT Racing, I was involved in the design of the GMG Racing 'Fleet' in the Pirelli World Challenge, based off my previous Tudor design for the team.
I've had a presence in Formula Drift for a number of years following my Team Need for Speed designs. Tyler McQuarrie's Mobil 1/GoPro Camaro returned for 2014 with some subtle adjustments, joined by all new designs for Fredric Aasbo (Scion), Charles Ng (Infiniti) and Danny George (Mazda MX-5).
Fredric's European based Toyota 86 also received a similar livery tot he Scion, but in Toyota colours.
I also had the opportunity to design a livery for this insane mid-engine Lancia Delta Integrale (above) from Scandinavia. Part of the Speedhunters collective, like Charles' G37, it uses oversized #Hashtag massaging and typography mixed with Martini style striping with a Nissan Calsonic (Super GT) Blue base.
Speedhunters branding was also used on Blancpain and Nurburgring 24Hr, Edward Sandstrom's new crash helmet.Edward also commissioned me for a new FIFA 14 and FIFA WORLD Livery design for his Audi R8 LMS GT3 Ultra. The sponsor wanted it to scream Football/Soccer ;)
Finally, I've been working with Subaru Rally Team USA on their livery for their 2014 Time-Attack cars, taking over the project and updating the side graphics of an existing proposal.
Away from direct competition, following my CJ Wilson Racing liveries, AERO™ Advanced Paint Technology pointed one of their customers my way to design a flowing livery for a special track-day Ferrari 458 Challenge Evo. This is created in a special paint film!
I also had the opportunity design a race hauler livery for Turner Motorsport following my Z4 GTD livery. One truck has the Z4 GT3 on the rear, the other has the CTSCC class BMW E92.
Graphic Design & Illustration
Moving away from liveries a little....
I have recently been producing a number of illustrations to support Nissan's announcement of the 2015 Nissan GT-R LM NISMO P1 and prior to that, the Nissan ZEOD RC programmes. You can read more here.
Falken Tires commissioned me to create a range of stickers replicating their Formula Drift entries. I'm busy creating lots of marketing support materials for various teams, often using my car illustrations.
Following on from the successful IMSA Spotter Guides, I have also created a couple of Spotter Guide related merchandise for the series including a Poster and T-shirt which is now available at the events.
I also assisted on other livery, and graphic design projects for Nissan, Aston Martin KSA, Audi, EKS Rallycross, Fox Sports, Velox Motorsport, Manifest Group, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca and Torque Branding during the first half of the year.
My other creative area I am expanding in is the Spotter Guide series. IMSA came on board this year and I now create all the Spotter Guide artwork for their IMSA Viewing Guides which they produce and print. On average 15000 guides are produced for each event while 40,000 downloads to date on SpotterGuides.com (+ whatever has been downloaded at IMSA.com)
I have just released the final version of the Nissan sponsored Nissan 24Hr Le Mans Guide.
The guide shows all the cars in their latest liveries (more up to date than the official series app!) along with Chassis, Engine, Class, Tyre and driver details. The guide also shows the FIA Driver Rankings along with track map, timetable and current points standing.
The guide is available as a A3 PDF and JPEG or a High and Low resolution A4 PDF which works great for home printing and mobile devices respectively.
You can download the Nissan 24 Hours of Le Mans guide on the sister sitewww.spotterguides.com
Thanks to Nissan who are sponsoring the Guide.
A number of other guides including Formula One and a Hankook Formula Drift guide have also been produced.
I'm looking to expand the Spotter Guide series, so if you, your sponsor or series want to ensure their brand is physically in the hands of thousands of race fans, drop me a line.
You can view the Spotter Guide Media Kit for an overview of opportunities here.
I am already working on designs for sponsorship proposals for 2015 and in one case one design is already locked in!
Don't get left behind. Do not hesitate to get in touch if I can assist in your 2015 plans to ensure YOU stand out from the crowd.
