Rahal Targets Return to Mid-Ohio Victory Lane with AERO™ Advanced Paint Technology

Mansfield, Ohio (27 July 2016) –  Verizon IndyCar Series pilot Graham Rahal will look to kick off another furious championship challenge with a big result at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course as the native Buckeye driver hopes to recreate his 2015 race-winning form this weekend.

Rahals’s 2015 win, which saw him narrowly edge the late Justin Wilson for the victory, launched the young American racer into championship contention as he took the IndyCar title battle all the way to the final round at Sonoma Raceway.

Rahal, who has carried  AERO™ Advanced Paint Technology on his Rahal Letterman Lanigan (RLL) Racing machines for several seasons, will be just one of several drivers this weekend looking to convert the advantages in weight, aerodynamics, and strength on the 2.3-mile circuit that AERO™ provides.

“Mid-Ohio is home to me,” said Rahal.  “I grew up at the track and spent so many days there as a kid. Watching races there, being a part of it, seeing and loving what it’s all about is a big part of who I am. The way it all came together last year, every aspect of it made it perfect for me. It’s exciting to go back as the defending champion, but we want to do that again year in and year out. We just have to focus on the task at hand, and hopefully we can pull it off. I fully expect it to be a patented tight IndyCar race weekend and I hope the Steak ‘n Shake team can come out on top again!”

Also carrying the banner for AERO™ Advanced Paint Technology  will be AJ Foyt Racing drivers Jack Hawksworth and Takuma Sato, who have shown promise so far in 2016 with their Honda-powered entries. But the duo have lacked the luck needed to convert that speed into podium-earning results thus far. The Mid-Ohio circuit is not far down the road from the American Honda manufacturing facilities, adding even more motivation for all the Honda-powered squads.

The Sunday IndyCar headliner is not the only race that will see AERO™ Advanced Paint Technology in action, as the weekend will also include a double-header from the Pirelli World Challenge runners. Leading the charge in the GTA Championship is Martin Fuentes and his No. 07 Hublot, Under Armour Scuderia Corsa Ferrari 458 GT3 Italia.

Scuderia Corsa has deployed AERO™ to do the impossible—make a Ferrari even more beautiful. Fuentes opened the season with a series-record seven consecutive victories, taking his eighth win of the year in Round 11. A disappointing Road America round will see the GTA points leader look to add to his win tally again this weekend.

"After a long vacation I'm very excited to get back on track at Mid-Ohio," said Fuentes. "This will be a good track for our Scuderia Corsa Ferrari 458 Italia, and it is our second year here - so it's not like last year where we were really new and didn't know the track. Right now, we are coming in with a different mentality and we are looking forward to bringing two wins for the Scuderia Corsa boys this weekend and to continue building the championship from Frankie Montecalvo and Michael Schein."
